I have absolutely no idea what happened with the newsletter yesterday. I usually start by jotting down items that I want to "talk" about, then go back and add links, pictures; I write and rewrite and then send. I barely started, had to go do something else, came back to my computer and it was gone. I thought I had lost it, and started over. It wasn't until I started getting emails from everyone, that I discovered that it was sent. The send button is at the bottom of the page; I have no idea what happened. Sometimes I think I have little elves running around my office playing jokes on me--or is it my age? Anyway, sorry about that, just ignore the previous one.

Housekeeping Items
We try not to bombard everyone with oodles of emails, but when we do send one, we usually have important information in it. We have had several incidents of people being upset about things that they were unaware of, and had they read their emails, they would have known. We ask that you PLEASE read our emails. I know that everyone gets inundated with lots of junk emails, but I want everyone to know what is happening here at The Enchanted Quilt.
Block of the Month Participants
Reminder that each block of our current Block of the Month, Color My World is ready to be picked up on the 15th. of each month. I know that the 15th. is more difficult to remember than the 1st., but had several BOM's going at the same time for a while, and we have to stagger the dates. We have quite a few blocks that have not been picked up from previous months as well as this month. I know that summer is busy, and if you prefer you can call the shop and we will be happy to mail them to you. We do however need them picked up.
Christmas Fabric
We got the most beautiful Christmas fabrics in, and it will not last long. Here is a pic of the Christmas quilt we made with it called Songbird Serenade. These fabrics are rich in color and are by Northcott Fabrics. The designer is from Canada. We ran out of patterns, but more are on their way. Send us an email if you want us to do a kit for you- info@theenchantedquilt.com.

Tropical Fruit
We will be having one last class on the Tropical Fruit quilt pictured here, and still have 2 openings. It is Saturday, August 31st, and is $12 which includes the pattern. Sign up here.
Mondo, Midi & Itty Bitty
What is Mondo, Midi & Itty Bitty? These are patterns that are so popular right now that we can't seem to keep the patterns or interfacing in stock. Everyone is making them for gifts as well as themselves. The Mondo bag is just like it says--It is BIG. Great for carrying all your quilting accessories or even a quilt. The Midi bag is a smaller version of the Mondo bag. We got notification that these are finally on their way. I expect them to arrive by Tuesday. The Itty Bitty bag is so cute for that young girl or teen. It has two versions in the pattern, interfacing for two bags and a button to cover for one of the styles. All of these bags are great for using the 2 1/2" Mini-Charms packs. We also have panels on the bolt for the Mondo Bag and panels on the bolt for the Midi Bag. So if you are looking for Christmas gift ideas, maybe one of these will work for you.

New Stuff
We got in some new music fabrics, called Music 2 My Ears; black & white, white & black and black & turquoise. If you like music fabrics, these are very nice.
We also got two bolts of sewing related fabrics, called Anybody Can Sew. Although I don't like mice, I do like these cute helpers.
Mystery Quilt
Our Mystery Quilt starts September 2nd. We only have two openings left, so if you are interested, time is running out. The sign-up fee is $20 and then it is $18.95 per month (plus shipping, if applicable) for four months. We have even given you a sneak peak at the fabrics. Grey is the color that everyone wants now.
Quilt Across Texas 2013
Quilt Across Texas also will begin September 2nd. It will run the entire month of September and we will be open more hours to accomodate travelers for this event. We will be open Mondays and open until 5 PM on Saturday during September, but will return to our regular hours in October. YES, we will be open on Labor Day. We can't wait to see some of the friends we have made in the past, and hope to make some new ones. We are in Region I this year with 13 other shops, and have some really great prizes. There will be 58 shops participating. A lot less shops to travel to than in the past, but will also take a lot less time and miles to make it to all of them. Even though the hop has dwiddled in size, it looks like the prizes are getting better. Each shop in our Region will be giving away a gift basket worth $300, there will be four $50 gift certificate winners from each shop, and every hopper will receive a free gift at each shop. The fabrics are by RJR Fabrics, and everyone is really excited about them. You can preview them here, but they cannot be sold until September 2nd. Gather your friends, plan your route, and see you soon!
Today's Tidbit
I love finding bits of unusual information to pass along. I thought these were interesting: Do you or someone you know have smelly feet? Smelly feet are caused by bacteria growing on the feet during the day, and it isn't necessarily the sign of bad hygiene. A good bacterial soap may help, but a better alternative is Vodka. It has an extremely high alcohol content, and can kill odor causing bacteria on contact. Vodka also has a drying effect which helps eliminate the moisture on the feet. Simply wipe down your feet with a vodka soaked cloth.
I love this one! Two ounces of dark chocolate may contain as much Theobromine as most over the counter cough medicines. Theobromine suppresses nerves responsible for the cough reflex. Next time you develop a cold and cough, try eating two ounces (or three or four or ..... LOL) of dark chocolate.
Till next time,
Happy Stitching.
