Today's Tidbits


It is getting hot, and school is finally out; and that means that summer is here.  That doesn't mean that everything stops here at the shop.  New stuff seems to arrive daily, i.e. patterns, notions and books.


We mentioned Nancy Halvorsen's latest book, Table Please, Part Two,  last time.   
Lisa finished the Halloween table runner that is in this book.  It turned out so cute. 

We used to use Steam a Seam 2 for most of our applique projects, but when the manufacturer stopped making it, we tried another brand, and had lots of issues with it.  We pulled it from the shop and actually threw it away.  I won't mention any names, but if you need to know what brand it was, email me and I'll tell you.  That made us look for another applique adhesive that we liked.  We found Soft Fuse, and it works great.  It comes on a 3 yards on a roll and 18" wide for $20. 

I am so excited about the way this bag turned out.  It is called Bon Voyage by Kati Cupcake.  It is much larger than I imagined, but the detail is wonderful.  Diane made it for us and she did a super job, the top stitching is great and the professional look of this bag is awesome.  It does not look homemade.  Lots and lots of pockets.  Diane said that the pattern had great directions and there was never a time in the process that she didn't understand them.  Just imagine all of the color combos you could use.   Here it is......

Thread Specials

Ok everyone, we have several thread specials.  We love Aurifil thread here at the shop.  If you haven't ever used this thread, it is long stapled Egyptian cotton with very little lint.  Sews wonderfully.  We have two sets of thread in large 1422 yd. spools.  Each set contains 12 spools of thread.  The first one is Quilted in Honor which contains, reds, white, blues, greens and gold.  Beautiful set for those patriotic quilts.  The other is a Pat Sloan set of neutrals; browns, grays, and tans. 


The price on these sets are normally $130.00.  We are offering them for $99 until Saturday June 21st. 


Today's Tidbits

Here is a neat way to cook bacon so that it doesn't curl.  Place strips in a single layer on a large foil-lined jellyroll baking sheet.  Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven until crisp, 15-20 minutes.  No need to turn the strips and cleanup's a snap!  Guess I'm going to try this tomorrow.
